Description:Job SummaryThe Hawth, Crawley's arts centre is seeking two (2) experienced, multi-skilled technicians to join the team facilitating all technical requirements of a busy schedule of performances and events. Job Description The Hawth, Crawley opened in May 1988 and is managed by Parkwood Theatres on behalf of Crawley Borough Council under the terms of a management agreement, which commenced in February 2012. The continuing presentation of shows, productions and events at The Hawth to a very high standard is a priority for both the Company, customers and our Client. The Venue comprises an 866 seat proscenium arch Main Theatre and a 146 seat Studio Theatre. Both spaces, as well as the grounds surrounding the Venue, are capable of being used in a multitude of formats and layouts which is reflected in The Hawth's extensive range of programmed arts events and activities. Organisational Structure Technicians report to the Technical Manager and Deputy Technical Manager. On any given shift they may be rostered to act as Duty Technician with responsibility for supervising the team on that shift. We are initially seeking experienced technicians to join the wider team, but there is scope to offer a Senior Technician (£25,056 pa) position to support the Technical Manager and Deputy Technical Manager should interest be received from an ideal candidate. Job Requirements Qualifications Relevant education and/or industry qualifications (e.g. ABTT Bronze of Silver) will be considered desirable but are not essential to consideration or the successful execution of the role. Experience Proven personal experience in the role(s) of; Theatre Electrician, Sound or Lighting Designer/Operator, Stage Manager, Flyman, Production Carpenter and/or other duties relevant to modern theatre and live events Personal Among the personal characteristics sought the applicant must: Be able to gain acceptance and respect from clients and the teams involved Exhibit the ability to build strong relationships with customers, clients and employees Have an independent, positive approach to problem-solving Show excellent communication skills, both written and spoken Be able to meet the demands of the role by working additional hours when required Have a level of personal fitness that allows full participation in all technical duties Job Responsibilities Primary Objectives are: - assist in the provision of a full stage production and events service to the highest possible standards assist with planned maintenance and play a role in maintaining equipment and the building fabric To ensure full compliance with H&S and Environmental legislation, the production of best-practice working policies and to maintain all safety and inspection records as required Day to day tasks include but are not limited to: - work as part of the technical crew including as; sound, lighting, flyman and/or stage tech; assisting on get-ins, fit-ups, rehearsals, shows and get-outs; servicing meetings, events and classes held within the building undertake regular repair and specialist maintenance tasks on venue equipment and general housekeeping lead on supervising contracted and casual staff during rostered shifts as per the rota To undertake any other duties as may be required by the programme of events to ensure objectives of the contract are met
