Description:

Shakespeare Theatre Company, located in downtown Washington DC, seeks a responsible and motivated Theatre Building Engineer. Reporting to our Director of Facility Operations, this position is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, maintenance, repair, and monitoring of our two theatrical venues, and some assistance with the two other Shakespeare buildings. Responsibilities include general building preventive maintenance and repair activities, HVAC maintenance and system monitoring, custodial supervision, event preparation and strikes, safety and security, coordinating with vendors, and supporting House Managers and Event Managers as needed. The Engineer will also coordinate with the Engineers of our condo partner to schedule inspections and perform other activities. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and an annual salary of $65,000 - $70,000.

The ideal candidate must be tenacious and have proven experience with problem solving and multi-tasking. Must have some experience with HVAC equipment, plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical work. Strong communication and people skills are a must. Familiarity with the special needs of a theatre/event venue, and the ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable but not required. Occasional early morning and late day duties, and some after-hours consultation and/or emergencies do occur. Schedule flexibility is required.
