We're looking for a Technician to work in conjunction with the Theatre & Events Manager, Technical Coordinator and Senior Technician to ensure that the technical presentation of the events at the Y theatre is of the highest standard.

Position: Theatre Technician
Salary: £12,634 per annum, pro-rata 20 hours per week (£25,268 FTE)
Location: Leicester City Centre

About the role: The Y Theatre is a bustling live performance venue based in Leicester city Centre. Our eclectic programme includes music, comedy, theatre, dance, new work and family shows. The 300-seat theatre also comfortably hosts candle-lit cabaret style events and standing gigs. Built in 1900, The Y is the oldest surviving Victorian theatre in Leicester.
We support the development of new, emerging & established performance, within an open and welcoming theatre, creating a hub of activity for local artists.
The Theatre Technician will be based at the East Street site with the remit to oversee the technical delivery of theatre events as set out by the Technical Theatre & Skills Coordinator, with responsibility for assisting with maintaining capital equipment, resources and stage and electrical equipment.
Job Requirements
The Theatre Technician will have excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills as well as a high level of honesty and integrity. You will be a proactive team-player and have experience of working in a technical role and work with or training young people.
To succeed in the role of Technician, your key skills will include:
Recognised qualification/training in Technical Theatre or practical experience in the technician production of shows
Experience in lighting (design and operation), sound and stage
PAT testing
Working at heights
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work professionally and courteously, developing and maintaining good working relationships with young people, hirers and artists.
A passion for the arts, live entertainment and technical theatre
Job Responsibilities
To ensure the technical presentation of the programme is of a high standard
To assist with maintaining and developing the capital equipment and resources of the venue
To assist with maintaining the stage and electrical equipment within the theatre to a high standard.
To promote health and safety and to ensure compliance with all license requirements
