Job Description
The Technical & Production Manager will play a leading role across Operations, Compliance, Technical, and Production, working closely with both the Artistic and Executive Directors & the wider Senior Management Team (SMT). Adaptable & calm under pressure, the ideal candidate will take a hands-on approach-equally confident managing all aspects of the company's touring activity as they are overseeing the technical operations of our production spaces, training studios & facilities at JV H.O.M.E.
This is an exciting time for the company, with 3 touring shows in repertoire & a new production about to go into development. The Technical & Production Manager will play a key role in bringing this new work to life & preparing it for tour.
JV H.O.M.E. serves as a cultural hub dedicated to creation, production, education, and multidisciplinary artistic exchange. The Technical & Production Manager will ensure the company remains fully equipped and operates efficiently-both within JV H.O.M.E. and on tour.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical and production management of Jasmin's new creation, from development and rehearsal through to premiere and touring
Work closely with the Artistic Director and creative team to ensure all creation and rehearsal spaces are fully equipped and technically prepared
Plan, manage, and oversee all touring technical schedules, ensuring smooth coordination between venues, technical teams, and logistics partners
Coordinate all get-ins, performances, and get-outs, ensuring each stage of the touring process runs safely, efficiently, and on schedule
Manage the technical operation of shows on tour, including supervising lighting, sound, AV, and rigging as required
Oversee the transportation of sets, props, and equipment, including managing freight schedules, customs arrangements (where applicable), and on-site logistics
Arrange &manage hire or purchase of equipment ensuring value for money and compliance with company budgets and safety standards
Job Requirements
Essential Experience:
Min 3 years' in tech/ production management in the performing arts
Managing production, touring & technical delivery of shows nationally /internationally
Strong understanding of touring logistics incl transport, scheduling, venue liaison & equipment hire
Leading get-ins, technical operations during performances, & get-outs, ensuring safe & efficient workflows
Managing maintenance & testing programmes for buildings & equipment
Working closely with Designers, Choreographers, & Creative Teams, understanding of the artistic process
Extensive knowledge of lighting, sound, AV & rigging systems
Excellent understanding of H&S legislation & technical standards across productions & venues
Conducting & implementing risk assessments & applying practical H&S processes in production settings
Strong problem-solving & organisational skills, ability to anticipate & resolve issues under pressure
Team leadership
Working knowledge of venue tech IT / digital systems
Job Responsibilities
Create & maintain detailed touring documentation incl tech riders, venue specifications, schedules & production reports.
Support the Creative Learning Team to ensure training studios are fit for purpose & equipped for workshops, sharings & performances.
Work with the General Mgr & Commercial & Buildings Mgr to manage building operations and compliance, including facility & equipment maintenance plans.
Take overall responsibility for Health & Safety compliance across both JV H.O.M.E. & all company touring activity incl conducting risk assessments, managing PAT testing & scheduling inspections & statutory checks.
Manage all on- and off-site storage, ensuring equipment & sets are maintained, organised & accessible.
Oversee technical & logistical support for external hires & events at JV H.O.M.E, key holder & emergency controller
Supervise freelance & casual technical teams fostering a positive, collaborative & safe working environment.
