Job Summary/Purpose

The Technical Production Manager is responsible for the coordination and execution of the production operations and staff of The Sharon L Morse Performing Arts Center. This includes oversight for departmental budgets and staff; assisting in advancing technical details for upcoming productions at The Sharon; scheduling crew calls; prioritizing and assigning work and preventative maintenance.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for this position include the following;

In general, cast vision and provide overall direction for the day-to-day and strategic long-term operations of the SLMPAC production department, including and especially the recruitment, training, and retention of stellar talent and the building and protection of an exemplary workplace culture 
Provide leadership to a team of staff and technicians in delivering world-class Performing Arts offerings to The Villages 
Work alongside the Booking Manager and Production Team to estimate costs and redline riders for upcoming shows and production seasons
Participate in a technical advance ahead of each engagement to ensure that all tour/artist specifications are correctly prepared before arrival 
Manage relationships with production vendors for the rental, purchase, or maintenance of technical equipment and systems for the Sharon and its productions
Act as the venue's business agent when working with tour managers, agents, promotors, vendors, etc.
Lead and participate in work calls for audiovisual, lighting, deck, automation, and rigging elements.
Oversee, codify, and advocate for safe and standard working practices, including compliance with fire codes, electrical codes, and OSHA regulations
Oversee the scheduling of house and over hire labor to fulfill the needs of incoming tours and productions
Process time and attendance for assigned direct reports, ensuring that team members are paid accurately for their work, working alongside other managers to maintain a life-work balance and keep labor needs within budget
Update venue documentation, to include tech specs packet, lineset schedules, rigging limitations, equipment safety + inspection records, etc., and make it available to internal and external clients when needed 
Develop and maintain systems for communication for the PAC production team, including internal databases, advancement documentation, production reports, planning and retrospective meetings, etc.
Oversee the annual and ongoing maintenance and acquisition of production equipment for the Sharon, particularly its personnel lifts, orchestra pit lift, and fully automated fly rail system

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in related field, or six or more years of experience with increases in responsibility in technical theatre, stagecraft, business, leadership, or related field.
3+ years'; leadership experience required.
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Prompt and regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
Ability to communicate effectively in a Microsoft Office365 ecosystem.
Proficiency in Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD is a plus.
Excellent written and oral communications skills with supervisors, peers, and internal and external clients.
Ability to foster a safe, humane, collaborative, organized, respectful, and energized work environment with a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
Comprehensive understanding of theatre terminology
Work with intermediate mathematical concepts.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands

A broad range of physical movement, including prolonged sitting, standing, climbing ladders, reaching, twisting and turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
Grasping and gripping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in operating equipment, using tools and preparing written material.
Working at a height exceeding 50 feet with required fall protection equipment and mitigations (catwalks, personnel/equipment lifts, etc.)
Near and far vision in reading, operating equipment, and viewing productions.
The need to be able to lift, drag, and/or push materials weighing up to 50 pounds using
appropriate tools
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is moderately exposed to moving mechanical parts and hazards. There is a moderate level of noise in the work environment. There are instances when the employee experiences wet or humid conditions, works in high places, experiences fumes, mists-gases and chemical hazards, runs a risk of electrical shock, vibration and burn hazards. The employee will be exposed to theatrical haze, fog, and strobe effects.
