Position Title: Technical Manager
Department: Production
Reports To: Director of Production
Compensation: $89,900 - $105,700 Annually
Status: Full-time, exempt

Job Purpose: Under supervision of the Production Director, the Technical Manager is responsible to efficiently assist in the day to day managing of the production department and the successful mounting of all SFB productions, SFB School, SFB School, and Trainee Performances, as well as Special Events

For SF Ballet Company

Development, collection, and organization of all Ballet production show files, and production photo archive.
Drafting of technical drawings for productions and scenic bids/builds as required
Assist in managing the construction of scenery, which includes estimating costs of labor and materials.
Assists in assembling show requirements for rep season and touring.
Assist in developing and managing production schedules and crew calls in accordance with any applicable collective agreements by liaising with IATSE Heads of Department.
Supervise production load ins/load outs and stage set-up at WMOH and Ballet Warehouse, when required, at the direction of the Production Director
Coordinates trucking and shipping of rentals (inbound and outbound)
Communicates with designers, artistic staff and stage management as necessary for troubleshooting and production continuity
Maintains production quality of the highest standards
Performs other duties as assigned by the Production Director
For SFB School and Trainee Program
Act as the primary technical/production liaison for the SFB School and Trainee Program
Obtains technical requirements for all SFB Trainee Program engagements
Alongside SFB Director of Education and Training, create cost estimates and schedules as required for SFB Trainee Program and Student Showcase
Monitor SFB Trainee supplies and equipment for repair or replacement
Obtain/order equipment and supplies as required for Trainee Program
Attend all SFB Trainee offsite performances (set-up/ performance/load out)
Ability to assist/supervise trainees in (set-up/performance/load out)
Occasionally adapt lighting design and run show for Trainee performances
Drive Company Vehicle

For SFB Special Events

Arrange and supervise technical crews as required for Special events
Arrange and supervise technical crews for Education events
Provides general production assistance for non-performance events at both the Chris Hellman Centre for Dance and the War Memorial Opera House
Performs other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.

Education Level and Focus: Theatre Production Degree MA, MFA (preferred)

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:

Minimum of Five years professional experience with a Major Performance Arts Institution.
Minimum of three years professional experience with Union Stage Hands (preferred).
Technical Competencies:

Develops and utilizes special knowledge of Microsoft Office or MAC OS, and Vectorworks.

Special Equipment Used: Microsoft Office or MAC OS. High proficiency in use of computer drafting (Vectorworks). Read and reproduce blue prints. Lighting and video projections, sound equipment.
