Working as part of a small and dedicated team, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, deinstallation and presentation of artworks for exhibitions, client viewings at the gallery and offsite at art fairs and artists' studios. You will also support with the general operations of the gallery including building management. The Technical Manager will ensure high standards of presentation are met and manage freelance technicians and staff as required.
You will be flexible in your approach to work and able to respond to and prioritise different tasks as they arise. You will be pro-active, a natural problem solver and have a wide range of experience working across a range of mediums with artists, curators and institutions. The role will require you to travel nationally and to international art fairs and other locations when needed.
The Technical Manager will be highly skilled in artist production, working with artists' studios and institutions to realise ambitious projects. Demonstrable experience of working with artists and curators, managing a team and budgets is essential. You will have a good network and knowledge of specialist production, fabricators, framers and shippers. Knowledge of SketchUp or similar is required as is the ability to contribute constructively to conversations with artists and curators in order to support projects from inception to completion.
