Support the technical vision and strategy for projects, ensuring alignment with creative objectives. MLF has a portfolio of installations, experiences and digital artworks that are deployed or sold nationally and internationally. As a key liaison between the MLF team and client, you will ensure that projects are designed and implemented in the most effective way - ensuring they are robust and reliable. During the early planning or concept stages of a project, you will engage in scoping/R&D to identify the best approach while adopting a problem-solving mindset, ensuring project goals are clearly understood and met within budget and on time. You will collaborate with freelance Technical Artists, Technical Directors and others to scope, plan and deliver on a project by project basis. You will be responsible for ensuring that all works are well maintained and functional, providing technical support and maintaining support systems used with venues or clients. Support, collaborate, and oversee the technical functionality of the studio. You will oversee the functionality and quality of our in-studio infrastructure and demo space. You will manage a part-time Studio Technician providing guidance and assistance in day-to-day operations of the studio and projects. In addition you will support the Tools and Infrastructure Engineer, in their project work. This work also includes oversight of the technical infrastructure of the studio, including the render farm and rendering pipeline. You will collaborate with the internal team and freelancers on these systems, ensuring basic IT support and familiarity with tools such as Deadline and Houdini. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation. You will be a key part of R&D efforts into emerging technologies, to refine systems & methodologies used at MLF. Job Requirements Proven experience in a technical leadership role, within a creative or digital environment. Proficiency in interactive and digital technologies, including VR/AR/MR, web and immersive / experiential media production processes. A generalist understanding of programming languages / development pipelines, with specific knowledge of real-time engines like Unity and/or Unreal Engine. Experience of building & maintaining infrastructure, IT system administration, technical support, or similar fields. Applied experience of rendering - including rendering pipelines, infrastructure and relevant softwares & tools. Skilled at scripting to enable efficient deployment and management of MLF work. Knowledge of audio systems, from authoring interfaces to outputs. Understanding of computer systems at a component level Proficient in IT infrastructure troubleshooting, with intermediate knowledge of electrical hardware maintenance and support.
