The Technical Director (TD) is a key leadership role within the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival's summer production team. The TD oversees all scenic elements from design to stage including, drafting (as required), budget planning and adherence, scheduling, supervising crew, and problem solving. Additional day-to-day responsibilities include facilitating initial festival set-up and strike, providing leadership on the shop floor and on-site during installs, changeovers and loadouts, coordinating expenses with Production Management, communicating with designers (especially once they are on-site) and coordinating build space usage with the Charge Artist and Props Master. The TD, ATD and Shop Foreman work closely together to ensure a professional and inclusive work environment at all times. The TD is responsible for maintaining a manageable work schedule for the entire Carpentry team to facilitate multiple ongoing builds and projects throughout the summer season. Safety and precision are our foremost priorities.
