We are looking for a Technical Director to lead the Technical show teams! The Technical Director will bring support to the show’s Company Manager operationally, and to the Sr. Technical Director of Resident Shows Division (RSD) functionally. The main responsibility of the Technical Director is to oversee the daily operations of the Technical teams as well as handle any site-related issues that may arise. The ideal candidate will be extremely organized, self-motivated and tenacious in dealing with a large quantity of daily time critical requests.

The Technical Director will have the opportunity to:
- Manage and coordinate daily operations of the show’s Technical department, including but not limited to: scheduling, coordination, and communication of activities with the Artistic department, Technical Department Supervisors, Company Management and partner facilitators;
- Create annual follow up on budget and reporting, in coordination with the Company Manager and Sr. Director of Production Services including creating annual budgets, monthly result reviews and expense approval prior to committing resources;
- Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Production Services, Department Managers and Company Management to prepare and manage a rolling 5-year CAPEX strategy for the show;
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director, Company Manager, and Production Services to strategize and implement long-term Artistic change requests, special events and capital projects;
- Manage Technical Supervisors; evaluate their performance and support them in evaluating their crew’s performance. Oversee hiring of all Technical staff and manage all disciplinary measures in coordination with the Talent team;
- Establish, maintain and update operational procedures, trainings and standards for the Technical department. Ensure Technical Supervisor has knowledge of compliance of corporate safety, documentation, maintenance, training and inspection practices;
- Collaborate with Sr. Director of Production Services and fellow Technical team leaders to develop strategies, plan and implement practices to ensure the longevity and standardization of technical operations, safety, documentation, maintenance, training and inspection and practices;
- Plan and schedule for regular on-site presence, including during show dark maintenance periods, in conjunction with the Production Services Department Managers;
- Identify crew ascension candidates and actively participate in their development through support training programs as necessary;
- Establish relationship and liaise with partner Proprietors and departments as necessary including Facility Maintenance, Security and Theatre Operations;
- Complete other job-related duties as assigned.

What does it take for this role? The following hard skills are the basics of what’s needed to be successful in this position:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent related work experience;
- At least ten years of previous experience in a technical leadership position on large-scale theatrical productions, touring or special events; previous theatre experience an asset;
- Thorough knowledge of theatrical technologies;
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams); Additional knowledge of AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS is beneficial;
- Proven success and demonstrated ability in project management;
- 30-hour OSHA course required if not already holding proof of valid completion;
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills;
- Ability to be a positive motivator and leader for the technical team;
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs unassisted, etc. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
