Job Description / Duties

Working under the Director of Operations for the Monument-National (MN) building, the successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and efficient execution of all technical and administrative operations at the MN building. There are three main areas of activity: the staging of shows in all disciplines; technical support for the creation, production and staging of shows for the pedagogy of the National Theater School; and hosting corporate and media events.

Responsibilities

Student Shows

Foster a positive learning environment with a pedagogical approach in line with NTS training programs;
Provide a support service for the various requests submitted by students to MN.
Receive and manage requests for assistance related to student productions, so that the technical team at MN can fulfill its advisory role while mentoring students as needed.
Manage requests with regards to classes at the MN.
Foster good communication and collaboration between MN technical services, Saint-Denis building technical services and NTS pedagogical services.
Ensure proper implementation of health and safety rules.

Partners

Advise, guide and participate in the evaluation of the technical, operational and budgetary feasibility of the various productions.
Plan and submit work schedules and assignments for the technical teams required for productions, in accordance with the terms and conditions of contracts and production data sheets.
Ensure the proper progress and technical supervision of productions.
Maintain effective synergy between different teams working on productions.
Ensure compliance with MN health and safety regulations;

Management and Administration

Plan, manage and maintain the technical and scenic equipment of the MN.
Prepare and update technical documentation for the performance venues.
Oversee the quality of work and performance evaluation of the permanent technical team.
Maintain a global vision and ensure proper planning of all annual productions at MN;
Responsibly and proactively manage the technical operations budget.
Ensure proper management of the temporary technical team, their timesheets and payroll.
Apply, update and renew the agreement on work conditions for temporary technicians at MN.
Recommend and ensure the application of best practices in the field.
Be the point person for internal events.
Participate in the Health and Safety Committee, as well as other committees as required.

Demonstrated know-how in managing daily operations related to internship and technical equipment.
Good electrical, lighting, sound, video and rigging skills.
Physical ability to lift loads.
Good knowledge of IT tools, such as Autocad, Office 365 and Vectorworks;
Manual dexterity.
Bilingualism, both written and spoken.

Additional Information
This is a permanent, full-time position, typically Monday to Friday, but the successful candidate will also need to be flexible in terms of working schedules.

Salary : Annual Salary between $61k-76k

Technical Director Monument-National
Reporting to the operations director of the Monument-National (MN) pavilion, the selected person will be responsible for ensuring the planning and smooth running of all technical and administrative operations that take place at the MN pavilion. The activities are mainly threefold: the broadcast of shows from all disciplines, technical support for the creation, production and broadcast of shows by students of the National Theater School, and the holding of corporate and media events.

Responsibilities
Student productions:

• Promote a climate conducive to learning with an educational approach consistent with the ÉNT training programs;

• Provide a support service for the various requests presented by students to the MN;

• Receive and manage requests for needs related to student productions, so that the technical team at the MN can play its advisory role while providing mentoring to students, as needed;

• Manage requests for materials for courses given at the MN;

• Promote good communication and collaboration between the technical services of the MN, the technical services of the Saint-Denis pavilion, as well as the educational services of the ÉNT;

• Ensure the proper implementation of health and safety rules.

Partner productions:

• Advise, guide and participate in the evaluation of the technical, operational and budgetary feasibility of the different productions;

• Plan and communicate work schedules and technical team assignments required by productions, according to the terms of contracts and production technical sheets;

• Ensure the smooth running and technical supervision of productions;

• Participate in the setup and dismantling of various events;

• Ensure good work synergy between the different teams within the framework of productions;

• Ensure the application of MN health and safety rules;

• Ensure complete customer satisfaction.

Management and Administration :

• Ensure the planning, management and maintenance of the MN's technical and stage equipment;

• Prepare and update technical documentation relating to performance halls;

• Supervise the quality of work and the evaluation of the performance of the permanent technical team;

• Maintain a global vision and ensure good planning of all annual productions at the MN;

• Responsibly and proactively manage the technical operations budget;

• Ensure the proper management of the temporary technical team, their timesheets and payroll;

• Ensure the application, updating and renewal of the agreement on the working conditions of temporary technicians in the MN;

• Recommend and ensure the application of best practices in the field;

• Be the point of contact for internal activities;

• Participate in the Health and Safety committee, as well as other committees as needed;
