Joining the Reduced Shakespeare Company's 2026 UK tour of The Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged) as part of a stage management and technical team of two. A fast-paced comedic performance that parodies all of Shakespeare's 37 plays (and 154 sonnets) in 97 minutes.
Job Description
Seeking a dynamic Technical Assistant Stage Manager to join the Reduced Shakespeare Company's 2026 UK tour of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). This is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-energy, fast-paced production that blends comedy with creative ingenuity. Working closely with The Theatre Chipping Norton and Selladoor Worldwide, the successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering a smooth and technically polished tour, contributing to every stage of the process-from rehearsals and get-ins to performance support and get-outs across an exciting national schedule.

Rollout:

Rehearsal period: Joining rehearsals from 2nd February - 15th February 2026 (Chipping Norton).
Previews: 18th February - 21st February 2026
Performance period: 23rd February - 12th July 2026.
Contract term: Self-employed contract paid at £700 per week, plus touring allowance paid in accordance with UK Theatre / Equity guidelines.
Job Requirements
Experience and Person Specification:

Essential:

Valid UK driver's license.
Must have previous UK touring experience.
Experience in Technical Theatre and/or an Assistant Stage Management role.
Basic knowledge of set, props, manual and technical operations and maintenance.
Previous experience in programming lighting desks.
Confident supporting get-ins and get-outs.
Ability to assess and troubleshoot basic technical problems as they arise.
A flexible, confident and responsive approach to working.
Job Responsibilities
Support the Designer in sourcing props for the production.
Attend all rehearsals and support the management of work / break periods according to standard working hours.
Travel in (and sometimes drive) a Luton van with the CSM (On Book) and with all the set, costumes, lights and sound equipment to each tour venue.
Support the CSM (On Book) with the Get Ins at each venue, including technical requirements.
Actively assist the Get Out at each venue.
Support the CSM (On Book) in the maintenance and replacement of worn-out props and costumes, liaising with the Production Manager and General Manager for expenditure approval.
Program the lighting cues for each performance, operating to be undertaken by the CSM (on Book).
Liaising with theatre staff at all venues.
With support from the theatre crew, rig any sound equipment required.
To undertake any other duties as reasonably required.
