Description:Camp Emerson in Western Massachusetts is seeking a creative and passionate Theater Director to lead and inspire campers in the production of summer theater performances. The ideal candidate will have experience in directing youth theater, with a focus on fostering creativity, teamwork, and confidence in young performers. The Theater Director will be responsible for casting, rehearsing, and guiding campers through all aspects of the production process.Responsibilities -Select, plan and, direct theater productions with campers ages 8-15 -Lead auditions, casting, and rehearsals. -Select, plan and, direct theater productions with campers ages 8-15 -Coordinate set design, costumes, props, music and supervise theater staff members to lead these initiatives -Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where every camper feels valued. -Supervise theater staff and create schedules for the theater team -Implement a curriculum for the theater program area -Lead program specific training for the theater staff before camp -Set up the theater space at the beginning of camp, and work with the Theater Tech Lead to ensure the speakers and lights are fully operational -Support all camp special events, evening programs, operations (like check in/out days), etc. along with the entire of the Camp Emerson staff Qualifications -Experience in theater direction, stage management, or acting (prior experience in an educational setting is a plus) -Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills -Ability to engage and inspire young campers, with a passion for fostering creativity and self-expression -Experience working with children and creating a supportive and positive environment -Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic camp environment -Familiarity with basic stage production (lighting, sound, costumes, props, etc.) Salary: $3600. Includes Room and Board and weekly laundry service. This position lives and works at camp in Hinsdale, MA over the summer
