Description:The Hylton Performing Arts Center on the Sci-Tech Campus of George Mason University is seeking part-time stage technicians.A specialization in one field is not a deal breaker — there is room to learn and grow through in-house training and mentoring. We are not a producing house; we are a rental venue serving local, national, and international performance groups as well as conferences and events. Position Overview This is a highly general position. Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): Audio/video set-up and strike Light hangs and focus Assisting in the rigging of drops, scenery, lighting pipes, etc. Working load-ins and load-outs Cleaning stages, storage, and other work areas Performing cleaning and light-duty maintenance of stage, lighting, sound, and related equipment Light-duty carpentry and set-up Operating the “fly” system for raising and lowering scenery, lighting, etc. Operating consoles for lighting, audio, and video systems Performing tasks during the run of shows (moving scenery/microphones, running follow spots, etc.) General non-technical equipment set-up and strike Preferred Skillsets Experience in one or more of the following: Stage Management Stage Electrical Stage Carpentry Counterweight Fly Systems Audio A1/A2 Required Skillsets Experience in a maintenance or laborer environment Proven record of punctuality Willingness and ability to work evening and weekend hours Comfort with personnel lifts and ladder heights of at least 15’ and higher Ability to lift 50+ lbs Patience Team player Personal transportation Compensation Pay Rate: $17 – $27/hour (depending on experience and technical expertise).
