Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out professional stage management work at Grenfell Theatre, Memorial University. The Stage Manager will schedule, coordinate, and supervise departmental theatre productions by overseeing the stage managing productions; supervising/mentoring student stage managers; and designing/delivering stage management curriculum to students in the Technical Theatre Production program.

Duties include devising and delivering stage management classes to students in the Technical Theatre Production program; demonstrating professional Stage Management protocols and techniques; assisting in the coordination, scheduling, and organizing of productions within the program; coordinating departmental rehearsal schedules, daily changes, and production department meetings; maintaining production prompt script and communication call board; overseeing backstage activities; and performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications / Required Skills
Experience (3-5 years) in professional stage management, preferably including experience with students in a theatre training program; graduation with a degree or diploma from an accredited theatre training institution; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of current techniques and trends in stage management is required.
