Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Sound and Lighting Engineer to support our Collective Fringe performances. The role involves setting up two performance spaces and training teams for independent show operation.
Job Description
Fee: £750 for 3 days
The Sound/Lighting Engineer will be responsible for:
Monday January 20 (10:00 - 21:00):
Complete technical rigging of two performance spaces
Setting up and testing all sound equipment
Setting up and focusing lighting rigs
Basic programming of lighting desk
Initial sound system configuration
Tuesday/Wednesday January 21-22 (9:30 - 18:00):
Running technical rehearsals with performing groups
Setting up basic sound and lighting cues
Creating and configuring QLab files for each show
Training group representatives on:
Basic QLab operation ('Go' button functionality)
Simple sound/lighting desk operation
Basic troubleshooting
Ensuring all shows have working cue sheets
Testing show run-throughs with groups
This role requires setting up straightforward, user-friendly show files that can be operated by non-technical performers. The emphasis is on creating reliable, simple technical setups that groups can manage independently during the festival run.

Monday, January 20: Main setup day (10:00 AM - 9:00 PM)
Complete rigging of both performance spaces
Tuesday & Wednesday, January 21-22: Tech rehearsals (9:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
Tech sessions with artists
Show programming
Training teams on QLab operation
Setting up basic show cues
Requirements:
Experience with sound and lighting equipment
Working knowledge of QLab
Ability to work independently and systematically
Strong communication and team skills
Adaptability and resilience
