General Overview
The Social Integration Director reports to SANCA’s Executive Director and supervises a staff of 3-8 coaches. The Social Integration Director is responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining all programs related to social circus and helping to integrate them into SANCA’s programming.

This position is responsible for programs where participants will develop skills to set personal goals and achieve them, leading to autonomy in other facets of their lives. These programs will also empower participants to express themselves freely and relish creative processes. The Social Integration Director actively promotes diversity within the organization and among students and promotes the mission of making circus accessible to all.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:


Provides mental and emotional health support, counseling, and trauma-informed care to students of all ages in all of SANCA’s programs, classes, and camps.
Ensures that SANCA’s programs are presented in a mentally and emotionally safe manner and are as inclusive to all populations as possible.
Provides clinical oversight, support, and training in trauma-informed care to all SANCA staff regarding social, emotional or behavioral issues with students.
Leads and manages SANCA’s social programs, including Every Body’s Circus, outreach programs, and all other programs and classes that serve students from a variety of backgrounds (for example, individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds or non-neurotypical individuals).
Identifies and implements ways to integrate social programs and students into SANCA’s recreational programming.
Trains and supervises social circus coaches and staff.
Provides direct services to students within all social circus programs, monitors their progress, and conducts assessments of incoming social circus students.
Provides one-on-one therapeutic services to students who need individualized care and/or students who cannot join group classes.
Creates and nurtures short- and long-term partnerships with community organizations, especially those that serve underserved populations.
Ensures program excellence and conducts rigorous program evaluation to confirm that classes, programs and services meet the needs of participants, staff, and stakeholders.
Fosters relationships and partnerships in the greater Seattle area that will attract new families, funders, and community organizations to support the Social Circus program.
Enhances all aspects of communications and marketing, creates promotional content for the website and social media, and responds to media inquiries in collaboration with the Marketing Manager.
Oversees the staging of special events and performances related to social circus.
Networks with and learns from other social circus institutions around the country and the world – i.e., travels to conferences and institutions in addition to attending online conferences, webinars, trainings, etc. – and participates in programs that unite the sector.
Supports the Development Director in work related to securing funding for Social Circus programs.
Handles other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The Social Integration Director must be a licensed mental health professional with a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or a closely related field. A minimum of two years of experience in social work, counseling, education, performing arts, or a related field is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Candidates must be able to work successfully in collaboration with diverse groups of people, be capable of listening effectively, and have genuine empathy with, and commitment to, participants and staff. Candidates should have a strong affinity for and understanding of issues around social justice, antiracism, and equity.

Special consideration will be given to BIPOC applicants and people who identify with marginalized identities (for example: queer or disabled applicants) to account for their lived experiences and perspectives that they will bring to the organization.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, and bending in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping and repetitive hand movement using a computer keyboard. The position requires near and far vision in reading correspondence, using a computer, and in the safe supervision of staff and students. The ability to communicate is required when providing phone and personal service. The ability to lift, drag and push equipment weighing up to 100 pounds, to set up aerial rigging, to lift students, to train and perform physical skills related to circus, and to provide spotting for students performing or training circus skills is required.

COMPENSATION:
This position is full-time salaried. The salary range for the position is $45,000 - $60,000. Benefits include paid vacation time, sick/safe leave, paid holidays, free circus classes for staff, and free and/or discounted circus classes for direct family of staff. At this time, SANCA does not provide health insurance. However, there is a working plan to provide that benefit to full-time staff in the future.
