Worcester Theatres is looking to appoint a committed, efficient, pro-active, and creative Theatre Technician. The successful candidate will be a great team player with strong lighting skills, competence in sound, and ability to stay focussed under pressure.
Job Description
The position of the Senior Technician is to support and deputise for the Technical Manager as required, assisting in leading the Technical Theatre team and its operation across the Worcester Theatres venues, to ensure all productions within the venues, are delivered at the highest, professional standard.
The Senior Technician will provide expertise and astute technical knowledge to the department and have the desire to enhance the department's operation, its procedures, and its future, supporting, deputising and leading on technical development projects as required.
The position offers opportunities for creative lighting design work with the Worcester Repertory Company in both main houses, the Swan Studio and at external locations.
Job Requirements
A strong lighting background with advanced skills in operating and programming lighting consoles.
A proven track record of working in a theatre environment.
The ability to develop positive working relationships with touring companies and ensure excellent customer service.
Experience of working with digital sound desks and multimedia software (Qlab).
Knowledge of AV equipment.
A good working knowledge and experience of rigging techniques.
Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, plans, models and other theatre documentation.
Awareness of best practice, including Health & Safety and effective working methods.
Excellent communication skills.
The ability to build trust and confidence with a wide variety of people.
Availability to work scheduled evenings and weekends.

Job Responsibilities
Alongside the Technical Manager take responsibility for leading the technical team in providing the best service to incoming companies, working within a safe and well managed environment.
To support and deputise for the Technical Manager in managing and training other members of the technical team including technical apprentices, technical placements, and work experience students.
Performing production duties, including installing and rigging lighting, sound, AV equipment and stage sets.
Programming and operating lighting, sound and AV equipment for shows across the venues as required.
Support the lighting and sound set-up, as required, to all visiting professional companies and hirers of the Swan Theatre and Huntingdon Hall.
