Description:KYLD Seeks Dancers for 2024-25 SeasonKun-Yang Lin/Dancers (KYLD) invites dancers of all gender identities to audition for paid company member & apprentice positions for the 2024-2025 season. KYL/D seeks professionals who are virtuosic, open-minded, collaborative, dynamic, and committed to community engagement. Dancers of diverse backgrounds, (especially Black, Indigenous, People Of Color) with strong contemporary dance experience, culturally-specific dance experience, partnering experience, and improvisation & vocalization skills are particularly encouraged. Preferred candidates will have some level of previous professional dance experience. KYL/D is a Philadelphia-based company that tours nationally and internationally, founded by Artistic Director, Kun-Yang Lin. The KYL/D ensemble is trained in the company’s unique CHI Awareness Practice that is deeply rooted in Asian art forms, contemplative practices and philosophies. The company works 32-35 weeks per year (mid-July to mid-March/April), 15 hours per week (including company class). Dancers are paid on a biweekly basis. Other benefits include free access to studio space, a platform to share choreographic work through the Inhale Performance Series, and opportunities for teaching and performance through the company’s arts education program, CHI Dance, and Chinese Cultural program. Additionally, several dance artists also hold other staff positions within the organization. The audition-shop week is Monday, July 29th-Friday, August 2nd from 10-11:30am. The workshops are open to the public as part of KYL/D’s summer class offerings, thus individuals can attend with the intention of not auditioning. Individuals auditioning will be asked to wear a number during each class, and while dancers interested in working with KYL/D are encouraged to attend all week for maximum exposure, dancers may also choose to drop in for just one day, or as many days as scheduling allows. Call-backs will occur on August 1st and 2nd from 12-2:00PM. Pre-registration for the audition is highly recommended. The registration includes a $5 fee per class (cash, Venmo, credit card and check accepted) and submission of the registration form linked below which includes a questionnaire, resume upload and other details.
