balletLORENT is an award-winning dance theatre company based in Newcastle upon Tyne (John Marley Centre, Scotswood), dedicated to creating ambitious and inclusive high-quality work, which tours the UK’s most prestigious theatres. We are seeking a highly motivated Dance Practitioner & Administrator to support the Education & Project Manager (E&PM) and Creative Associates to deliver a varied programme of learning and participation (L&P) activities at John Marley Centre, across Newcastle and the North East, and to assist with the administration of these activities.

The successful candidate will support the E&PM to cultivate new relationships; support delivery of L&P activities, and support the evaluation frameworks to achieve best practice.

Administration duties will include, but are not limited to, communication, planning, reporting and evaluation purposes, and the obtaining of child performance licences.

We are seeking someone with a high level of dance training, teaching and planning skills, the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team, and a full understanding of safeguarding when working with both children and vulnerable adults.

Key Responsibilities

Learning and participation

Deliver a varied programme of classes and creative workshops that has been agreed by the Artistic Director & CEO that complements balletLORENT’s artistic movement and aesthetic
across a wide spectrum of age ranges and abilities.
Undertake Arts Award Advisor training to support delivery of Arts Award and Arts Mark activity.
Support the E&PM to cultivate new relationships with community influencers, schools and higher education to engage with all age groups to raise awareness of balletLORENT’s creative offer and achieve bookings.
Learn content from the artistic programme to support delivery of L&P projects/programmes.
Help devise and create resource packs.
Keep up to date with national and local policy for young people and the arts.
Health & Wellbeing

Maintain your own personal fitness, technical levels to maintain a high standard of excellence throughout your job role.
Ensure all health and safety regulations are adhered to within the rehearsal space: temperature; clean and clear of obstruction; access to water and facilities, etc.
Join company class when scheduling allows.
Evaluation

Support the evaluation frameworks to achieve best practice while delivering the L&P projects/programmes
Support evaluation methods, collect statistical information, and collect completed feedback forms for each L&P activity for evaluation purposes.
Contribute to self evaluation for the L&P projects.
Administration

Support the administration of the L&P projects/programmes for communication, planning, reporting and evaluation purposes.
Obtain child performance licences in line with procedures enforced by national and local authorities and through liaisons with parents of children taking part in performance or film.
General

Take on other duties relevant to the post, as required by the E&PM and Artistic Director & CEO and achievable during contracted hours, including occasional delivery of programmes nationally.
Liaise with the General Manager to book travel, accommodation and per diems associated with L&P activity if, and when required.
Carry out duties of this post in accordance with balletLORENT’s policies including Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults, Environmental and Health and Safety
Act as an ambassador for the company during public facing events and communications and take part in press interviews and pre and post show discussions when requested.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
Essential Skills

A high level of dance training
Experience of teaching and the ability to plan and deliver dance classes/workshops for a range of ages and abilities
Ability to take ownership of assigned projects
Excellent organisational skills with logical and methodical approach to planning and preparation
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a team.
Excellent time keeping
Good written skills
Good IT skills, and experience working with Microsoft Office, Excel or similar
Ability to work calmly under pressure, self-motivated and excellent use of initiative
Understanding and implementation of safeguarding when working with children and vulnerable adults
Desirable Skills

Experience in arts coordination and administration
Experience in delivering work with both neurotypical and neurodivergent participants
Experience of creating risk assessments


This post is subject to screening. The successful candidate will be required to pass enhanced DBS checks to work with children and vulnerable adults before appointment.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake safeguarding, basic first aid, neurodiversity, and other relevant training, provided by balletLORENT.



In return, we offer:
