SHE-CAN (Supporting Her Education Changes A Nation) is seeking a talented and experienced scriptwriter to help us write our gala script. Reporting to the Development Director and CEO the scriptwriter will write a 45 minute script packed with personal stories, and entertaining commentary. The gala, called Revolution 2.0, is in its 8th year at the San Francisco War Memorial and Herbst Theatre. SHE-CAN’s annual gala raised $1.3M last year. We are looking for someone who is passionate about storytelling and has a proven track record of producing high-quality, emotional script content. Key Responsibilities:
Write a 45-minute program script from opening to closing, including MC talking points, six 2- 3-minute scholar speeches, introductions of two honorees, possibly speeches for honorees, verbiage for thanking donors and fundraising asks, etc.
Conduct 6-8 interviews with scholars to gather personal stories and insights about their life and journey and work with scholars to refine their stories.
Work with the Development Director and CEO to refine script and assist in ensuring the seamless integration of written and visual content.
Qualifications / Ideal Candidate:
Strong writing skills and experience at script writing with a proven ability to create emotionally powerful and succinct stories.
Preference given to candidates with five or more years of professional writing experience.
Writing style that is emotional, poignant, and compelling, utilizing an active voice and conversational tone.
Comfortable with feedback, editing and revisions.
Candidates with a degree in Creative Writing will be prioritized
Compensation: Contract position paying total of $3,000. No benefits are provided.
Location: This position can be filled by a person who ideally is local to the Bay Area, but must be in a US time zone.
