Scenic Designer – 2019/20 Season
Kinetic Arts Center (Oakland, CA) is looking for a Scenic Designer for our 2019/20 professional and pre-professional circus productions.
Experience designing for circus is a plus but not mandatory. A degree in scenic design is preferred but also not mandatory. The Scenic Designer will work in collaboration with the Director and Technical Director to create a set appropriate for theatrical circus. Applicant must be available to support the Technical Director with set building, painting and attend production meetings (tbd).
Responsibilities Include:
Designing and working as part of a group to build/paint sets,
Preparing rough drafts for presentation,
Providing progress updates at production meetings,
Working closely with the Company Manager and the Technical Director on scheduling project implantation,
Attending rehearsals to observe how the set works within the show
Requirements:
Education: BA or better
Experience: 3 or more years
Ability to meet deadlines,
Ability to interact, communicate, and implement ideas,
Ability to work within a budget and be mindful of costs,
Ability to be versatile, work visually, and be creative
