Status: Full-Time, Annual Hourly Position
Start Date: September 2025
Pay Range: $19–$20/hour DOE (overtime after 40 hours)

In October 2024, we will open the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility featuring:
A 350-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage

Gulfshore Playhouse became the 77th member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT) in 2022 and is currently experiencing unprecedented growth in a collaborative and creative community.
Position Summary:
The Scenery Technician will support the Technical Director, Assistant Technical Director, and Scene Shop Supervisor in the build, load-in, strike, and general upkeep of each production. This position also serves as run crew for assigned shows and assists other departments as needed.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, collaborative, and motivated to deliver high-quality work. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work under pressure are essential. Some weekend and evening hours will be required for performances, meetings, and special events.
Key Responsibilities:
Build, load-in, strike, and maintain scenic elements for productions
Construct scenery as assigned
Communicate daily progress with Scene Shop Supervisor
Complete daily notes from the Technical Direction team
Serve as crew for assigned productions
Assist other departments as needed (lighting, sound, props, paints, costumes)
Read scripts and production reports prior to beginning work
Adhere to safety protocols at all times
Provide support for special events
Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
1–2 years of experience in technical theatre (college experience accepted)
Knowledge of wood construction, fabrication techniques, and scenic engineering
Ability to interpret construction drawings and execute cut lists
Basic knowledge of CAD/Vectorworks preferred
Skilled with hand and power tools
Experience in carpentry or welding
Strong time management and multitasking skills
Creative problem-solving ability
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working at heights, in dark or tight spaces, and standing for extended periods
Experience in lighting, props, or paints is a plus
Must be able to work with proper PPE and operate shop equipment safely
