Description:Teaching nine (9) 90-minute Roots of Contemporary Performance classes in the winter term (January 3 – March 4).Class Description: This course will touch on specific artistic movements in the second half of the 20th century which have led to contemporary aesthetics. Surveying dance, theatre, and other performance practices, the class draws parallels between and post-modern movements in various disciplines and attempts to define figures who have had an outsize influence on contemporary circus. Class dates, times, and salary TBD. Ideal candidate will have: - 3+ years of teaching experience - bachelor’s degree in Performance Studies, Dance History or related subjects - demonstrated study of contemporary circus and its connection to other art forms Circadium is a college-level program, and teachers must be invested in the creative process with students, and in the collaborative work of the faculty. Preparatory work, grading, and faculty meetings are a significant part of instructors’ jobs here. Successful candidates will be excited about the school’s vision, and ready to roll up their sleeves to make an impact in the field of contemporary circus.
