Description
Fixed-term contract until 31st July 2023.
We are seeking a talented and ambitious practitioner-researcher to join the Centre for Practice and Research in Performing Arts (PResPA) to work on the ‘Participatory arts for community integration’ project, part of the wider University-funded “Expanding inclusive performance practices to empower marginalised communities” network.
The project develops an innovative approach to performance co-creation drawing upon social science-based community research methods. You will co-design and deliver a series of performance research projects targeting social cohesion in different areas and communities across Walsall, working with information gathered by community peer researchers. You will work closely with the Practice and Research in Performing Arts centre leader, researchers from the Institute for Community Research and Development (ICRD), community researchers and relevant local arts groups within specific boroughs of Walsall.
You will contribute to the development of both artistic research and textual outputs documenting the project, and you will participate in dissemination activities throughout the region. Together with the Centre leader, you will co-develop a network of key local and regional organisations responsible for both arts and social development.
We welcome applications from excellent candidates who can contribute to our successful Centre and its ambitious plans. To be considered for this Research Associate post you will be qualified in performing arts to postgraduate level, and you will have experience in leading community arts projects and working with relevant stakeholders and cultural organisations.
You will be required to work independently and as part of a team to undertake performance development and presentations, and to carry out evaluations of locally funded interventions. You will also be involved in developing funding bids aimed at expanding the scale and depth of the innovative interdisciplinary model for application across a wider range of scenarios.
For further information about this role, please contact Dr Richard Glover, Head of PResPA [email protected].
