Description:Job opportunitySeason 2021/2022 Ballets Jazz Montreal is a contemporary repertory ballet company which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022. As an internationally recognized touring company, the organization honors its dynamic history, founded in creation and accessibility, all by fostering a positive and supportive work environment, under the artistic direction of Alexandra Damiani since June 2021. Ballets Jazz Montreal is looking for a: Rehearsal Director Reporting to the artistic direction, the candidate will have to prepare and teach the classes of the company, lead the rehearsals during the phases of research, creation, production and presentation, both in Montreal and abroad, while according to the artistic program and calendar of the company. The candidate will have to perform the following tasks; Prepare and conduct ballet classes on a daily basis. Depending on the needs of the current repertoire and the ongoing creation process, the candidate must prepare and guide the dancers through contemporary classes, improvisation, or any other teaching that will best serve the dancers; Maintain and maintain the integrity of the current directory. Along with the artistic coordinator, ensure that creations are rigorously archived and documented; Plan the daily schedule of the company with efficiency and sensitivity in order to inspire the dancers while ensuring that the objectives are met; Support the dancers and the company during the tours (20-25 weeks) - in collaboration with the tour director and the technical director, create the daily schedule, lead the company classes, guide the technical rehearsals of the show, write down different constructive comments during the performance to ensure the development and sustained maintenance of the dancers. The candidate must know how to anticipate problems and demonstrate great skills of adaptation and flexibility to meet the challenges that the company may face on tour; Support active communications, in respect and transparency, with the artistic direction and the company, as well as with collaborators, guests and volunteers; Ensure that all artistic activities are organized, coordinated and carried out in a flexible and efficient manner in collaboration with artistic direction and coordination (guest classes, accompanists, auditions, master classes, photo sessions, costume adjustments and others); Receive first aid training, provided by the organization, and act as a first responder on tour and in the studio; Maintain a positive, respectful, inclusive and inspiring work environment. The candidate must support the key values that guide the organization: curiosity, commitment, participation and creativity; Represent the company and act in order to maintain the image and reputation of the organization. The candidate has a good understanding of the local, national and international dance scene. Perform any other function designated by management. Qualifications: 10 years of teaching experience in the world of professional dance; 5 years + of experience as a ballet master, director and / or assistant choreographer; Extensive training in ballet and contemporary forms, as well as professional performances; Fluency in French and English; Available for tours (20 to 25 weeks per year); Basic computer knowledge.
