Puppeteer / Actor (m/f/d)expired

Burghofbühne Dinslaken, State Theatre

Germany Germany, TBA
Posted on: Dec. 09, 2025

Description:

Job description
Founded in 1951 by Kathrin Türks, the Burghofbühne Dinslaken, the smallest state theater in North Rhine-Westphalia, remains an integral part of the region's cultural landscape for over sixty years. In accordance with its cultural mandate as a state theater, the Burghofbühne primarily performs its productions as a guest theater in over 128 cities and towns in North Rhine-Westphalia and throughout Germany. Each season sees the premiere of approximately eight new productions – roughly half of which take place in the Young People's Theater.

For our production “Herzfaden”, based on the novel by Thomas Hettcher about the origins of the Augsburg Puppet Theater, we are looking for

A puppeteer / actor

With state-approved training in guest engagement according to NV-Bühne Gast.

Rehearsals will take place in Dinslaken from September 7, 2026 to October 30, 2026. Performances will be exclusively on tour, primarily in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), but in some cases also nationwide, requiring overnight stays.

Fourteen performances are currently scheduled for the 2026/2027 season. Further performances are expected to be added in the 2027/28 season and will be arranged individually. Due to the sometimes widely spaced performance dates, residence in NRW is advantageous.

This is a theatrical production that will also incorporate puppets. The exact type of puppets and the extent of their use are not yet determined and will be developed conceptually in collaboration with the puppeteer/actor, who will also perform on stage.

Ideally, we are looking for a performer with competence and experience in both puppetry and acting, and a willingness to teach the rest of the ensemble the basics of puppetry. Knowledge of puppet making is advantageous for conceptual considerations but not a requirement.

Please send your application, including all relevant documents, as a single PDF file via email to [email protected] . The application deadline is January 18, 2026.

We welcome applications from all sectors of society, regardless of gender, sexual identity, ethnic, cultural and social background, age, religion, worldview or disability.

Severely disabled applicants (m/f/d) will be given preference if equally qualified.

Travel and application expenses will not be reimbursed. Your personal data will be stored during the application process and deleted upon completion.
