About Flipside Circus
Flipside Circus is Queensland’s largest youth arts organisation – an award-winning company with a reputation for excellence in training and performance as well as for supporting Queensland’s world-leading circus sector.

Flipside operates out of, and manages, the Brisbane Circus Centre providing space and support for circus training, development, experimentation, and presentation.

Flipside delivers four key programs:
• Training programs right across Queensland including our circus school at the Brisbane Circus Centre;
• An artistic program of professional performances by/for and with children and young people;
• Community and social circus programs including extensive regional and remote touring programs;
• Support for Queensland’s world-leading circus artists and independent companies.

Flipside is located on the banks of the Maiwar (Brisbane) River at Hamilton Northshore on Yagarabul and Turealbul Country.

About the role
Reporting to Flipside’s Artistic Director/CEO and working closely with the Administration and Finance Manager, trainers and artists, the Program Manager is responsible for developing and delivering Flipside’s training programs including the circus school.

The successful candidate will have an excellent working knowledge of the circus and circus training sectors.

Key responsibilities
• Manage the effective and efficient delivery of training programs for Flipside Circus including: Flipside’s circus school, residencies, holiday programs, in-schools’ programs, pre-professional and trainee/junior trainer programs and other workshops.
• Develop and supervise the implementation of curricula, training frameworks, and lesson plans.
• Ensure training programs are delivered at a high professional standard.
• Liaise with artists and trainers and provide leadership.
• Communicate with students as well as families/careers.
• Work with the Artistic Director/CEO, trainers, and other staff members to seek new opportunities, develop new programs, and review and refine existing programs.
• Develop and oversee injury management and artist/student care programs.
• Assist with the daily function of Flipside Circus including general administration, customer service, and venue duties as required.

Flipside Circus position description

Basis of employment – Flexible 0.75 to Full-time
Hours – 28.5 to 38 hours per week
Salary range - $60-70K pro-rata

Selection criteria
• Extensive experience as a circus trainer/artist.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement programs/training programs in an arts context.
• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and communicate with and manage multiple stakeholders.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills, attention to detail, and capacity to create and adhere to systems.
• Experience working with children and young people.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
