Located in San Francisco’s Mission District, ODC includes a Dance Commons and the ODC Theater, as well as a robust digital program. For 50 years, ODC has been instrumental in community development, arts education, and expanding access to creative art-making.


Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Professional Dancer at ODC, located in San Francisco, CA. The Professional Dancer will be responsible for daily rehearsals, performing in various productions, collaborating with choreographers, and participating in community engagement activities. Additional tasks include maintaining physical fitness, attending promotional events, and assisting with dance instruction when necessary.


Qualifications

Strong proficiency in Dance, Ballet, and Choreography
Excellent physical fitness and the ability to perform demanding movements, including overhead lifts
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of artists and instructors
Previous performance experience in professional dance productions
Passion for community engagement and promoting arts education


The July 21 audition will include a ballet barre, and contemporary center taught by Assistant to the Artistic Director, Brandon "Private" Freeman, and will be followed by learning and performing excerpts of ODC repertoire and some problem solving prompts. There will be cuts as needed throughout the audition process.


If promising candidates are in the room, employment may start Sept 8th 2025. ODC's 2025/26 season includes 2 home seasons at Yerba Buena Center, performances at ODC Theater and throughout the Bay Area, as well as national and international touring. Dancers need to be eligible to work in the USA, and able to travel internationally.
ODC offers 48 week contracts, with full time, exempt positions based in ODC's San Francisco, CA campus.
