Description:Main purpose of the JobThe Production Technical Director - Touring Show works under the direct supervision of the General Manager (GM) for the development and delivery framework of a touring show in a mobile infrastructure: Big Top. The role of the Production Technical Director is to set up and coordinate the research, design, development and manufacturing phases of all required technical components and services to support the creation, production and pre-operation. All of the above must be studied and validated to work with the designated infrastructure and safely and adequately fit within the theatrical environment. The Production Technical Director will participate in the creative process and provide technical support to the creation, the design team and the Stage Director. The Production Technical Director will offer proactive and viable solutions to any technical feasibility questions that may arise and alongside the creative team, assist in the realization of all designs from a technical standpoint. Roles & Responsibilities The Production Technical Director will lead and implement the technical production planning and milestones and advise and approve all technical systems to be incorporated into the execution of the Show. The Production Technical Director will manage and respect the set budget which is under the direct responsibility of the Production Director. This role will establish with the Stage Director, the approval and confirmation process of designs that will in turn, initiate the procurement process for all elements which sit within the technical budget. The Production Technical Director will support the Stage Director in the evaluation and prioritization of each designers needs in terms of space, time, installation, weight loading, positioning within theatre and any other factors in which designers may compete for, throughout the creation process. The Production Technical Director is responsible for the management and supervision of hiring of all staff for the development, production/creation and pre-operations phases of the show development including integration and collaboration with external subcontractors. This includes precise job descriptions and recommendation of employment parameters provided to Human Resources. The Production Technical Director will manage the heads of all departments involved in the creative and production phases of the development of the show. This responsibility will also carry on to participation in the hiring of operational staff and the training and transfer of responsibilities where applicable. The Production Technical Director will develop a detailed organizational chart of the division and clearly illustrate the nature of the interdependencies in order that the production and creation staff may understand the impacts on any hypothesis regarding show content related development and modifications. The Production Technical Director will be responsible for the sectors of the buying group related to the technical and equipment needs during the production phases which includes accounting for shipping and assembly and safety considerations. The Production Technical Director will work in close collaboration with the GM to develop and manage the show technical rider, SOPs, Show Bible, and any documentation needed for the show touring as per DRAGONE and industry state of the art quality standard. This shall include proper documentation and equipment warranties throughout all developmental phases and hypothesis to be duly archived on the company data management system. The Production Technical Director will present a full Risk Assessment plan to the GM for insurance coverage evaluation as well as a full Health and Safety protocol for all processes, maintenance and operation. The Production Technical Director will collaborate fundamentally with both the GM and Production Director for all venue and equipment usage concerning safety and participate in all work groups that will establish operational and maintenance protocol. The Technical Director is responsible of procurement contract compliance with state-of-the-art guarantee and maintenance standards of such project for production and operation. The Production Technical Director will remain available to support the integration of the Technical and Site Operations Director during the first two city transfers on the tour. Strong organization skills and the ability to meet firm deadlines. Autonomous, flexible and not afraid to show initiative. Capable of adapting to the philosophy of a department and a team. Strong familiarity with technical systems, networks, programming consoles and corresponding software ex: Automation, Rigging, Light, Sound, SFX Skills/Qualifications: Administrative Writing Skills, Reporting Skills, Supply Management, Scheduling, Microsoft Office Skills, Organization, Time Management. Advanced knowledge of and fluency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook). Knowledge of AutoCad Knowledge of project management software (MS Project etc)
