A hallmark of the department’s mission is the active integration of scholarly and artistic work in both courses and productions. The disciplinary relationship between Theatre and Performance offers a unique environment in which to explore and study performance and production from a multi-disciplinary and collaborative perspective. Students are offered a course of study designed to develop creative potential, foster inventive thought, and contribute to an appreciation of humankind’s artistic, intellectual, and cultural heritage. The Department is committed, through its productions, to providing cultural resources for university and community audiences, including classical and contemporary works that challenge and interrogate commercial theatre and dance performances. The disciplines of Theatre and Performance, because of their ever-evolving nature, are particularly well‑-equipped to prepare students to be highly responsive in rapidly changing environments both within and outside of these disciplines. Position Summary William & Mary’s Department of Theatre & Performance invites applications for a full-time Production Manager. Under the general direction of the Department Chair, the Production Manager will oversee theatre and dance productions to include general operations, managing the production budget, establishing deadlines and monitoring progress of production processes, resolving technical and logistical production issues, securing performance rights, and facilitating guest artist engagements. The incumbent will coordinate rehearsal and performance space for the program and serve as a liaison for all scheduling matters related to productions and facilities in addition to supervising the work of full-time staff.
