DESCRIPTION
The Production Manager oversees the technical needs and assists in the creative and artistic elements of the 2022 North East summer tour of Stars Above, an open-air circus production by Hideaway Circus. The position is seasonal and includes traveling and touring with the circus throughout New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the entire production process and has experience working on tour with circus (or similar type) productions.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to preproduction planning and budgeting
Run production meetings with the designers and creative team.
Oversee the ordering of the sound and lighting equipment for rental (with Lighting and Sound Designers) within budget.
Assist and advise Producer in hiring of the production staff.
Maintain a safe production environment
Communicate with backstage and House Manager before and during performance.
Call the show and run the light board for each performance.
Act as point person for any mid-show emergencies.
Supervise and participate in the Load-Ins and Load-Outs of all lighting and sound equipment, set, and stage with company crew and local crew, including the loading and unloading of all technical equipment in the company truck(s) and trailers.
Drive either a 24' box truck or pick up truck with attached 12' cargo trailer.
Assist with backlot layout and design for each show site.
Assure that all rented tech equipment is picked up on time and returned in good condition at the end of tour.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years of production experience
Valid Driver's License
Strong organizational and managerial skills
Positive attitude and team player.
Work involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, and other physical activities consistent with setting up heavy equipment. Work may include lifting, carrying, or moving objects and equipment weighing over 50 pounds.
Period of Employment:
This is an approximately seven week seasonal position from mid July to early September, 2022.
