Main purpose of the Job
The Production Director works under the direct supervision of the Executive Production Committee for the development and delivery framework of a show in a fixed theatre / entertainment space; pre-existing or purpose built.
This role covers all phases from concept approval through creation, delivery and handover to operations.
The strategic milestones and optimization of scheduling and allocation of resources are primordial to the success of the show and the Production Director will assume this responsibility to support and accompany the ensemble of concurrent processes; creative, technical and operational.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Production Director will work intrinsically with the Executive Production Committee, the Production Technical Director and the design teams related to theatre construction or modification to accommodate the production and creation of the show.
This work will include and inform the Creation Team for any and all requirements and constraints that will impact not only the show content onstage, but the general operability of the theatre venue in backstage and related onsite shops ex: set maintenance, carpentry, rigging and all technical maintenance of the theatre and its TSE related to the development of the show concept.
The Production Director will interface with the management and staff of any pre-existing theatrical venue / client to ensure direct communication and exchange of all pertinent information that would impact the infrastructure, construction modification or staffing of that organization and to optimize the collaboration of their permanent staff and evaluate any inclusion in the production and operations to avoid unnecessary double duty replication.
The Production Director will establish the entire staff listing for the Show Creation and Operation under the guidance of the Executive Production Committee as concerns the business model, amplitude of shows and expected duration of the show.
The Production Director will manage a task force to evaluate material needs related to the theatre ex: activity specific FF&E, municipal services (water, electricity) and rapports with local hospitals for emergency protocol.
The Production Director will construct and manage the global financial profile of the creation and production phases under the supervision of the Executive Production Committee. This will include the pre-operations phase of creation whereby the operational staff will be gradually taking hold of responsibilities.
The Production Director will construct and elaborate the global timeline and scheduling matrix and maintain up to date with any evolving objectives from the Executive Production Committee and taking into account any constraints that arise during the entire process.
The Production Director is responsible for the management and supervision of hiring, staff support, financial strategy, logistics, equipment acquisition and inventory. This includes precise job descriptions and recommendation of employment parameters provided to Human Resources.
The Production Director will manage the heads of all departments involved in the creative and production phases of the development of the show. This responsibility will also carry on to participation in the hiring of operational staff and the training and transfer of responsibilities where applicable.
The Production Director will develop a detailed organizational chart of production support ex: administration and logistics teams and ensure that decision levels and degrees of autonomy are clear, functional and coherent. The Production Director will be the signatory for all purchase orders except where the delineation of autonomy and amount would be agreed upon prior.
The Production Director will be responsible for the implementation of the buying group concerning production needs during the production phases which includes the supervision of all subcontractors.
The Production Director will establish in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Executive Production Committee, a financial management system for reporting, forecasting, tracking and purchasing that will allow appropriate degrees of responsibility to department heads and simultaneously maintain a constant tracking of financial priorities and guidelines.
The Production Director will be responsible to implement a purchase group to resource and centralize all acquisitions and the logistics involved in reception and maintenance. These acquisitions will cover the ensemble of needs from all divisions and phases of creation and production and in many cases continue on to the show in operations.
The Production Director will resource and negotiate conditions of purchase and services for the creation and production of the show in tandem under the supervision of the Executive Production Committee.
Any long-term service agreements must be approved of by the Executive Production Committee and reviewed by Dragone Legal counsel.
The Production Director will present a full Risk Assessment plan to the Executive Production Committee and the GM for insurance coverage evaluation as well as a full
Health and Safety protocol for all processes and infrastructures and venues: research and development, training facilities, theatre and associated public spaces.
The Production Director will act as the lead and driver for all production meetings and follow up on the repercussions thereof in all of the subdivisions as well as collate and communicate all information from the project development to the staff, and from the staff to the Executive Production Committee in the form of information and recommendation.
The Production Director will be involved and aware of any show related PR and Marketing initiatives directed by Dragone or the Client and work with the Artistic and Technical Teams to support any promotional activities that may be required throughout the process.
The Production Director will endeavor to generate and preserve a healthy and collaborative work environment adapted to the labor code and company/corporate policies.
The Production Director will work in close collaboration with the Creative and Technical Teams to develop and manage the show technical rider, SOPs, Show Bible, and any documentation needed for the show as per DRAGONE and industry state of the art quality standard. This shall include proper documentation of all developmental phases and hypothesis to be duly archived on the company data management system.
The Production Director will remain available for closure of the production budgets, project archiving and operational support for 3 months post opening.

7 years experience in permanent installations of Large scale show productions
Experience in themed entertainment environments a plus
Experience in South-East Asia a plus

Other Skills and attributes
Strong writing and communication skills in English with secondary languages being a strong added value.
Strong organization skills and the ability to meet firm deadlines.
