Job Summary
This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented Operations Supervisor to oversee the efficient and safe operation of The Elgiva and The Little Theatre. This role is vital to ensuring the building’s compliance with health and safety standards, maintenance requirements, and contractual obligations.
Job Description
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure the theatre complies with all licencing, health & safety, and fire regulations.
Manage and regularly update risk assessments and procedural systems in line with current legislation.
Repairs and Maintenance Coordination
Oversee the theatres repairs and maintenance programme, within the allocated budget.
Perform minor repairs and DIY tasks to maintain the building and address issues promptly.
Coordinate with external contractors, ensuring the venue is clean and safe for public, guests and staff.
Contractor and Cleaning Oversight
Work with the Front of House (FOH) Manager to manage cleaning and maintenance contractors, ensuring the venue is clean and safe for public, guests, and staff.
Building Access and Security
Act as a key holder with responsibility for opening and closing the building as required by the theatres schedule.
Operational Readiness
Ensure the building and its facilities are prepared and available to support the theatres programme of events and activities.
Financial Procedures Compliance
Ensure adherence to the council's financial procedures, including cash handling, stocktaking, invoicing, and purchasing processes.
DIY and Hands-On Maintenance
Take a hands-on approach to maintaining the building, carrying out small scale repairs, such as fixing fixtures, painting, and basic plumbing or electrical tasks as appropriate.
This is a part-time role with flexible hours based on the theatre's operational needs. The role requires a hands-on approach, including physical tasks related to maintenance and building inspections. Flexibility will be required to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as required. The post holder is required to adhere to the Council's health and safety, data protection and equalities policies. Job Requirements
Knowledge
Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and licensing requirements.
Experience
Proven experience in building maintenance and contractor management. Working in a customer service-based environment
Skills
Practical skills in DIY and basic building maintenance, including small repairs and upkeep.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage time effectively.
Strong communication skills for liaising with contractors and staff.
Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
Ability to be clear and concise, both verbally and writing
