It's only 2025... But what will 2026 bring us? We are launching an Open Call for circus artists and companies looking for co-production. Are you planning a brand new circus production or a place for in-depth artistic research? We are curious about what you have in store!

For whom?
We strive for a broad, diverse circus field. We invite everyone with a heart for circus to apply.
In our selection, we focus on artistic quality, fair practice, realistic planning and budgeting. And of course, the relevance of the project for realization at CIRKLABO or with Leuven.
Would you rather not write out your project? Then explain it in a video of maximum five minutes.

What do we offer?
A workspace for two weeks (as far as possible tailored to your needs and project)
Co-production budget* and contribution to the production costs of the residency
Possibility of overnight stays with host families
Possibility of try-out/sharing moment
We offer substantive sparring and support through local experts tailored to your needs
*The co-production budget is determined based on the salary costs of the artistic team during 2 weeks of residency, therefore we ask for a detailed budget (salary costs and production costs) of 2 weeks of residency.
The artistic team consists of all performing artists who are working during the residency, with the exception of artists who are employed by a structurally supported company.

Are you looking for a different or specific location for your project? Cirklabo has a network of partners with different types of locations. Together we will see if we can find a suitable location.
Selection procedure
The selection procedure consists of two steps:
CIRKLABO team : The Cirklabo team reads all applications and makes a pre-selection based on practical and logistic criteria. The applications that are given the green light are presented to the reading committee.
Reading Committee : This committee will assess the applications and rank/select the most suitable candidates based on artistic quality, potential and relevance to Cirklabo. All submissions of the Open Call coproduction 2026 will be assessed by the reading committee.

An A4 with an explanation of your project, including why Cirklabo is an interesting co-producer for your work or a 5-minute video.
An overview of technical needs, the planning of the creation, and possible distribution options.
A document explaining the budget and the co-production budget*.
