Position: Stage Manager – Maddi’s Fridge National Tour (Fall 2025)
Company: Childsplay, Arizona’s Professional Theatre for Young Audiences
Location: Tempe, AZ (touring nationally)
Salary: $725/week
Lodging: Single occupancy lodging provided while on tour
Eligibility: Must be at least 25 years old (insurance requirement)

About the Position:
Childsplay is seeking a Stage Manager for the Fall 2025 national tour of Maddi’s Fridge. The ideal candidate has experience managing rehearsals, calling shows, and leading teams effectively. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, especially while managing logistics on tour.

Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Tour & Rehearsals

Attend production meetings and assist with planning and scheduling.
Update show contact sheets and create rehearsal/production calendars and reports.
Maintain cleanliness of rehearsal and green room spaces.
Set up rehearsal spaces and assist production staff with prep.
Technical & Touring Duties

Instruct actors on technical procedures including load-in, set-up, sound check, and strike.
Communicate with venues and presenters about arrival/load-in times and technical needs.
Coordinate travel logistics with the Company Manager: confirm hotels, manage billing, and navigation.
Drive company vehicles and schedule vehicle maintenance while on tour.
Lead load-ins, focus, sound checks, and rehearsals at each venue.
Run lighting or sound cues (using QLab) as needed during performances.
Performance & Maintenance

Supervise actors while on the road.
Manage pre-performance prep including setting call times and ensuring readiness of cast and crew.
Maintain the director’s vision: deliver blocking, line, and tech notes as necessary.
Coordinate with marketing, front-of-house, and box office staff throughout the tour.
Handle production maintenance including prop/costume repairs or replacements.
Administrative Duties

Compile and distribute rehearsal/tech/performance reports.
Maintain the prompt book and accident reports.
Manage and file receipts, venue payments, and credit card/petty cash reports.
Upload documentation to SharePoint in appropriate folders.
Stay in close communication with the Childsplay home office regarding personnel, health issues, and any concerns.
Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (van driving required)
At least 25 years old (for insurance coverage)
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Previous touring experience preferred
Ability to manage complex schedules and logistics
Bonus skills: sewing, painting, crafting
Important Dates:
SM Prep Week: September 8–12, 2025
Rehearsals: September 15–26, 2025
Tour Dates: September 29–November 25, 2025
