Unique Community is seeking an inclusive, enthusiastic and dynamic Musical Director for our weekly youth theatre. The role involves delivering high quality inclusive music workshops, writing brand new songs in collaboration with young people and musically directing a brand new original musical.

CONTRACT DETAILS
Duration: September 2025 - July 2026
Fee: £35 p/hr x 4hrs x 30 weeks = £4,200 TOTAL (+ show / tech / dress rehearsal fees TBC)
Days: Tuesdays / term time / 30 weeks per term
**This role may require occasional evening and/or weekend work.
**Probationary period on all new projects - 1 month & 3 month review
Job Requirements
Essential
Considerable experience delivering drama sessions to children and young people
Considerable experience writing scripts and developing collaboratively with children and young people
Considerable experience of working in inclusive arts environments
Passion for working with children and young people to create brilliant community theatre experiences
Passion for creating exceptional daring new performances
Enjoys working as part of a team
Excellent time-keeping & organisational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
Knowledge of and/or experience living or working in Brent and/or Harrow
Independent artistic practice
Job Responsibilities
To plan and deliver music sessions
To facilitate the writing of original songs as part of the devising process in collaboration with participants.
To record lyrics to be distributed to participants.
To create recordings for soundcloud that can be shared with participants for learning.
To facilitate a safe, calm, prepared and FUN atmosphere throughout the day
To work collaboratively with the rest of the facilitating team to develop plans
To support sessions delivered by other team members
To support participants during breaks (when assigned to this duty)
To provide pastoral support to participants as required
To liaise with Management, Wellbeing Officer & Team Members to ensure participants are supported well throughout the sessions
