Job Description

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Musical Director to oversee the musical aspects of our youth production of Aladdin. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piano and a thorough understanding of singing techniques. The Musical Director will be responsible for conducting rehearsals, teaching vocal parts, and ensuring the musical quality of the production. The role requires working with a diverse age group of students, from 7 to 18 years old.

Working Hours:

Rehearsals: Sundays, November 2024 to June 2025
Auditions: 8th and 22nd September 2024
Show Week: Sunday 8th to Sunday 15th June 2025 (Full Week Availability Required)

Job Requirements

Proven experience as a Musical Director or similar role in musical theatre.
Proficiency in playing piano (preferred) and a strong understanding of singing techniques.
Experience working with children and teenagers in a musical theatre setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate young performers.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
A relevant degree or professional qualification in music or musical theatre is preferred.
A DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.
Job Responsibilities
Lead and conduct musical rehearsals on Sundays during term time.
Teach and coach students on their vocal parts and singing techniques.
Play piano during rehearsals and provide musical accompaniment as needed.
Collaborate with the production team to ensure the musical elements align with the overall vision of the show.
Provide musical direction during auditions on 8th and 22nd September 2024.
Ensure students are well-prepared for performances.
Be available for the full show week from Sunday 8th to Sunday 15th June 2025 to oversee musical performances.
