DESCRIPTION

Arizona Broadway Theatre is seeking an immediate replacement to serve as Music Director and Conductor/Keys 1 for our upcoming production of Kopit/Yeston's Phantom. Rehearsals begin Saturday, February 15. Performances begin Friday, March 7 and runs through Thursday, April 10.

As Music Director, you will join the creative team to collaborate on the production's overall sound, feel, and musical moments. You will need to be available to attend production meetings prior to rehearsals beginning, as well as help to create any orchestral reductions necessary. MD will be responsible for teaching all music to company, playing or providing recordings for necessary staging and choreography rehearsals, as well as being available for any understudy preparation/rehearsals and promotional events as requested by the Artistic Director. MD will also maintain production's vocal and orchestral integrity throughout the run, giving notes to company as appropriate in conjunction with Stage Management. Payment for the MD portion of this contract is made in a flat fee paid in three installments (on signing, beginning of rehearsals, and opening night).

As Conductor/Keys 1, you would be responsible for leading the orchestra of local musicians for all performances and any promotional events requested by Artistic Director. Payment for Conductor/Keys 1 portion of the contract would be paid on a per service basis. Performance weeks generally include 8 shows a week.

Interested applicants should possess excellent piano skills, experience teaching music in individual and group settings, experience leading an orchestra while also playing, an understanding of other instruments, clarity in instruction, a desire to collaborate, a sense of humor balanced with a strong work ethic, flexibility when helping to problem solve musical moments within the production.
