I Remember Myself is a bold, immersive dance work developed by Jones the Dance, led by Artistic Director Gwyn Emberton, in collaboration with Oriel Davies Gallery. Part of the Autobiography of the Body (AOTB) project, I Remember Myself explores the relationship between memory, movement, and community, inviting audiences to rediscover their personal histories and engage in collective storytelling through dance. This innovative approach to contemporary dance challenges traditional performance formats, offering a participatory experience where the memories of the audience are intertwined with those of the performers.
I Remember Myself will be performed in Welsh, English, and British Sign Language (BSL), ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for a diverse audience.

Access and inclusion
I Remember Myself will tour Wales in May 2026, performing in galleries and community spaces. By focusing on underrepresented communities—D/deaf, visually impaired, LGBTQIA+ youth, and rural populations—I Remember Myself seeks to break down barriers to dance, offering a shared space for people to connect with their bodies and with each other. The project aims to create lasting relationships within communities, ensuring that dance becomes a tool for healing, empowerment, and collective memory.
The work and methodology will draw from or reveal personal histories which may be triggering. This will be discussed and explored in the audition process and due to the potential sensitive nature of this we don’t expect that this work will be for everyone. If you decide it is
