Job Description
To support the total mission of the College by planning, designing, and administrating programs, policies, and services that will contribute to the academic and athletic welfare of students through Saint Mary’s College varsity athletics. The head coach will also uphold Saint Mary’s College, USA Cheer, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), and the NCAA Division III philosophies and policies. This is a full-time, 10-month position.
Job Duties
The STUNT Coach has the exciting opportunity to be the inaugural coach and to lay the foundation for the development our intercollegiate STUNT program! Saint Mary’s College plans to begin competition in the sport of STUNT in the 2024-25 academic year. Responsibilities for this full-time 10-month position include the development, management, and coordination of all aspects of a successful women’s intercollegiate STUNT program including but not limited to:
Recruiting and retaining student-athletes in accordance with NCAA DIII, MIAA, and institutional rules, regulations and guidelines.
Organizing, preparing and executing effective practice and game strategies.
Monitoring and nurturing student-athletes’ academic and personal progress.
Creating and fostering a positive team culture.
Managing successfully the daily operations of a varsity STUNT program: budgeting, scheduling, equipment, travel arrangements, and game day organization.
Assisting with fundraising.
Supervising part time assistant coaches and other support staff.
Fostering a cooperative work environment and providing mutual support with all constituencies and colleagues.
Educating assistant coach(es) in recruiting and institutional policies and protocol. Ensuring assistant coach(es) assist in creating and fostering a positive team culture.
Serving as a positive role model for our student-athletes to follow and represent the program and Saint Mary’s College with sportsmanship, integrity and professionalism at all times.
Secondary duties to be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 5 years’ experience coaching and/or competing or participating in cheer/STUNT.
Must maintain CPR/AED certification
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred
3-5 years of Cheer/STUNT coaching experience at the collegiate level
