Sasha Amaya is looking for dancers/performers for her new work Solo for Boy in late autumn 2023.

Where: Tanzfabrik Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany.

When: June 24 and 25, 2023

Sasha Amaya is looking for dancers/performers for her new work Solo for Boy in late autumn 2023. Constituting part of her trilogy investigating and reimagining European art history from a non-European perspective, works in the series include Sarabande and Orfeo. This time Amaya takes the topic of norms of western male beauty as her topic, to performatively investigating the history and continuing presence of how western European art culture has presented and represented the masculinity, beauty, power, and permission.

ROLE
We are seeking:

– Performers generally read as male or androgynous (which could or could not match own identify gender);
– Performers with contemporary dance training and strong stage presence, comfortable with a variety of performative states and intensities, and ability to grasp choreographic details
– Ideally seeking performers who have a broad range of technical skills such as a classical base and/or basic acrobatic skills (macaco, brief handstands, etc.)
– Comfortability with nudity;
– Performers able to work in EU with preference for Berlin-based performers.

October 3 –13, 2023
2 weeks in November TBC

– At least 2 video links of you dancing: on stage, in the studio, or IRL! One of the two videos should show dance in which you feel you demonstrate technique (of whatever kind of dance form you tend to do);
– One photograph OR 1 minute video of you looking straight into the camera
– A short paragraph (2–4 lines) on your interest and how you might connect to the work (e.g. on a technical level, a thematic level, etc.);
– CV;
– Instagram or website.
