August. 2023 ABOUT SETanztheater: SETanztheater emphasizes high dance quality and strong personality of the dancers in its works. Stories are to be told through the art of dance and the body. In a respectful working atmosphere, collaborative works are created, which in the end stimulate a dialogue with the audience. The topics are mostly socio-critical and -political, but reach the audience through appealing artistic realizations. ABOUT PRODUCTION: principle.SWANSHAKE is part of the SETanztheater’s “Tiny Stages” series. Tiny Stages are small stage platforms that create a safe space for dancers to perform in urban spaces (open air). The upcoming production is conceptualized for 2 to 5 dancers. Based on the famous ballet Swan Lake, we focus on the theme of “fairy tale” from today’s point of view – meaning of alternative reality, own “bubbles”. For the first time we create a winter edition with the Tiny Stages. Our costume designer has a background of sports fashion design (adidas, etc.). She will make sure to create not only a special costume for the theme, but also one that provides the appropriate protection for the performers according to the season. Performance time: about 10 minutes. 14 performance days, each with 2 to 4 performances spread throughout the day.
