Description:For the new production The 100 Passions Sebastian Weber Dance Company is looking for contemporary dancers.Where: Leipzig & Dresden, Germany When: • April 15 – April 21, 2024 for contemporary dancers only (in Leipzig) • May 6 – May 12, 2024 for tap dancers only (in Leipzig) • May 13 – May 19, 2024 for all dancers (in Leipzig) • June 7 – June 21, 2024 end rehearsals, full cast (in Dresden) Deadline for applications: 03.11.2023 The 100 Passions is a new work for orchestra and contemporary tap dance commissioned by the Staatsoperette Dresden and choreographed by Sebastian Weber with original music by Konrad Koselleck. Rehearsals will take place at the home of Sebastian Weber Dance Company in Leipzig, Germany, starting May 2024. End rehearsals and performances will be at the Staatsoperette Dresden in June 2024. Dancers will receive a project-based contract by the Staatsoperette Dresden. It is mandatory that all dancers are fully available during all rehearsal and performance dates. confirmed performances in the 2023/24 season are: • Sat, June 22 • Sun, June 23 • Tue, June 25 • Fri, June 28 • Sat, June 29 • Sun, June 30 planned, but not yet confirmed, dates in the 2024/25 season are: • rehearsals Sept 9 – 11, 2024 • performances Sept 12 – Sept 15, 2024 • performances Oct 4 – 6, 2024 • performances Feb 25 – 26, 2025 • performances Feb 27 -28, 2025 (at Kurt-Weill-Festival Dessau) call for contemporary dancers We are looking for two male and one or two female contemporary dancers. So far, the Sebastian Weber Dance Company has consisted exclusively of dancers rooted in tap. The 100 Passions will be the first production to expand this profile by a strong contemporary component. However, you will also be expected to perform percussive movement with rhythmical precision. Please check some of our video trailers to see if you could imagine yourself in our midst. This being said, here is what we are looking for: • You have excellent contemporary dance technique and are particularly strong with partnering and floorwork. • You have strong musicality, you are familiar with musical terms and counting, and are able to lock in with a groove. • You feel comfortable with improvisation and creative tasks in the choreographic process. • You are in great physical shape. 8 hours of dancing a day are not a problem at all. • You have a number of years of stage experience. • You are a dedicated team player, used to taking responsibility, and confident even in times of high pressure. • You feel comfortable using your voice or singing on stage (not solo). • Gender, age, color, size, „type“, or whatever else does not matter. Please be aware that we can only employ dancers that are within reasonable travel distance from Leipzig, Dresden, or Berlin.
