Description:

Sophia Uckmann is looking for 3 female, all ages, professional contemporary dancers/performers for a research project (paid), developing a 2 Channel Installation, in Berlin.

Where: Berlin, Germany

When: Project will take place between August and October 2022, ca. 15 Days spread across these months

Deadline for applications: 15.06.22

I am looking for dancers/performers working in the field of art / with a strong understanding of contemporary art practices in general and experience in research-based working progresses.
Therefore I am not only looking for skills, I am looking for you as a person with experiences and knowledge, that you will bring to the work and share within the project. There will be a strong focus on improvisation and partnering. You should have a professional training background in contemporary and/or somatic techniques and a strong interest in researching and developing work in a process-oriented way.
I explicitly welcome applications from women of all ages, in all shapes and sizes. As we will be working in the context of collective female solidarity, it would be great if you are open to share your personal experiences and thoughts regarding this context in the safe space, that we will be creating together during the research state.
The project is centered around the concept of collective female solidarity and touches on themes of care work, the female body in relation to its surrounding and the potential power of collective thought and action. You should be comfortable to improvise and partner with other dancers, as this will be the key physical quality in the working process.
A sufficient knowledge of the German language is required, as we will discuss certain essays and concepts in the research state. You should be a resident of Berlin, as the funding will not cover housing and travel and the working period may be spread on to several blocks of consecutive days.

How to apply: If you are interested in taking part in this project, please send:
– video material of you dancing/performing (please only online links, no downloads)
– your CV (including your Instagram or Vimeo account if you have)
– a short statement, that includes why you want to take part in this project, your artistic interests, what is important to you as a female in this day and age and what you hope to experience during the collective research. Max. 1 A4 Page please or send a video message (max. 5 min).

After receiving your application I will be contacting you for a meeting in person, to get to know each other and to discuss your expectations and the logistics (dates, availability, salary etc.)
