Ad description ABUELA TREE Susan is ten years old. During the summer holidays, she explores a Savoyard forest guided by her grandmother Abuela, who comes from the Amazon. Together, they traverse the local landscapes and evoke forests from elsewhere, between intimate memories and mythological tales. As they walk, Susan discovers she possesses a gift: perceiving the secret life of the forest. Under her gaze emerge the pulse of the bark, the breath of the mushrooms, the song of the birds, and the memory of the cloud forests that call for rain. A fragile and joyful polyphony, human and non-human, scientific and animistic, unfolds before her and reveals the interconnections of all living things. But summer is drawing to a close. Abuela must return to Peru. Overwhelmed by this experience between dream and reality, will Susan manage to maintain this connection with the forest and continue to hear its voices on her own? The Abuela Tree project, a text by Julie Rossello-Rochet, is a project at the crossroads of visual theatre, puppetry, shadow theatre, and sculptural work. The performance explores forests, from the Bois de Vincennes to the Amazon, their workings, and interconnections through the lens of an intergenerational relationship between a grandmother and a granddaughter.
