DESCRIPTION
NexGen Youth Theatre, an educational youth theatre company based in Manhattan, is seeking a Lighting Designer for their upcoming production of "The Addams Family" at American Theatre of Actors (314 West 54th Street, New York, NY).
Tech begins Monday, December 1, and the show is double cast. Dress performances Thursday evening (Dec 4) and Saturday afternoon (Dec 6), with 4 performances running December 5 - 7.
PLEASE NOTE: If trained during the week, an intern can run the board, and you would not have to be present at all for performances.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Designing and programing lights to fit the creative and practical vision of the director within the allotted time frame
- Ability to hang and focus any additional lighting instruments rented
- Working with the NexGen team to review the lighting package, and finalize ordering/rentals to realize design
- De-rigging all added lighting equipment during strike (after December 7th 5:30pm performance)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience as a lighting designer, and the ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Knowledge and efficiency in hanging lights, and experience with theatrical lighting equipment
- Ability to work at heights over 12ft
- Ability to lift and move 50+ lbs
SCHEDULE:
Monday, Dec 1 - Space to come for set up work if needed - 10:00am - 4:00pm. Spacing rehearsal that evening - 4:00pm - 10:00pm.
Tuesday, Dec 2 - Finalize lighting set up before 4:00pm; Tech Act One with the Cast - 4:00pm -10:00pm (Set up can also be done Monday, depending on your schedule)
Wednesday, Dec 3 - Tech Act Two with the Cast - 4:00pm - 10:00pm
Thursday, Dec 4 - Dress Rehearsal Cast 1 - 7:00pm - 10:00pm (mainly to watch in case of adjustments)
Friday, Dec 5 - Performance - 7:00pm
Saturday, Dec 6 - Dress Rehearsal Cast 2 - 2:00pm - 4:30pm, Performance - 7:00pm
Sunday, Dec 7 - Performance Cast 1 - 1:00pm - 3:30pm, Performance Cast 2 - 5:30pm - 7:00pm, Strike after final show - any additional lights taken down. Theatre's plot can stay.
STIPEND: $900.00
