Job Summary
Festival Trainee is the role is for those who might want to work at film and other arts festivals or in the film industry. There will be training sessions with the LIFF team to give more insight into areas like programming, production, partnership development, and marketing.
Job Description
Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) is one of the UK's leading annual film events, the Academy Award, BAFTA and BIFA-qualifying festival primarily supports the work of new filmmakers from the UK and across the world. In 2023, LIFF had over 250 screenings representing 82 countries. Our venues include cinemas like Hyde Park Picture House, Vue at The Light Leeds, and Everyman Leeds.
Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) wouldn't be possible without the hard work and dedication of our volunteers.
During LIFF, Festival Trainees may also be called upon to carry out the tasks of a Venue Assistant for periods of time. Venue Assistant volunteers help run festival screenings at Leeds International Film Festival. Leading on ushering, checking tickets, assisting Venue Coordinators and reporting technical faults at screenings.
Festival Trainees will gain work experience and additional training, make new connections and develop valuable skills alongside free tickets to festival sessions and some LIFF Presents screenings.
Job Requirements
We are looking for applicants who:
have a passion for cinema.
are interested in working in the film industry.
enjoy being part of a team and collaborating with others.
are enthusiastic and available to attend training sessions in mid to late October
are reliable and available across at least five shifts from 1st till 17th November 2024.
are driven to help make Leeds International Film Festival one of the best audience experiences in the UK.
Job Responsibilities
Festival Trainees will be based in the Production Office with the core LIFF team at the Carriageworks for the duration of the festival and will help with a variety of tasks including:
assisting on administrative tasks such as data input and website content upload.
assisting with daily logistical tasks required for the operation of the festival.
assisting at guest and industry events and helping with guest coordination.
helping to set up and take down LIFF infrastructure at venues.
