Description:Posting DetailsCompetition Number F18181P Position Title Instructor - Faculty of Fine & Applied Arts - Performing Arts Employee Group Faculty Position Status Non-Regular Position Type Instructor Special Appointee Others please specify Workload Amount .83 section Department Bachelor of Performing Arts Additional Notes Location North Vancouver Nature and Scope of Work The Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA), currently housed at Capilano University, is seeking an experienced instructor to teach body-based performance theory and practice across two courses: BPAC 404: Contemporary Performance Practices and BPAC 407: Studies in Interdisciplinary Performance and Production. These courses are scheduled during the Summer 2021 term, running from May 10 to August 20. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to: • develop lesson plans, assessment strategies and parameters, and engage in student evaluations; • guide students in concept development, engaging in diverse creative processes, developing and realizing a final piece; • support students with different skill sets and diverse creative, cultural, and educational backgrounds; • employ critiquing and student engagement strategies; • contribute to developing curriculum in a program that is committed to the interrelation of theory and practice within a trans-disciplinary, collaborative environment. Required Qualifications & Experience The ideal candidate will have: • a Master’s Degree; • a minimum of three years of professional experience alongside post-secondary teaching and practice-based research; • a demonstrated and professionally recognized practice as a primary creator in one or more of: performance art, post -modern or contemporary dance, performance of everyday self, live art, body art, contemporary circus, tableau, performance-as-research, human body and digital media; • academic expertise in one or more of the following: live art, 3rd and 4th wave feminist theory, queer studies, post-colonial studies, gender theory, critical race theory, presence theory; • intercultural competence – the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with people of various cultures is expected.
