POSITION OVERVIEW
The Head Sound / Sound Mixer will lead the sound department in the safe consistent running, moving and maintenance of all sound elements associated with the Moulin Rouge National Tour. Touring a live theater production is a unique and fast paced environment. You must be able to handle stressful situations and find solutions to problems quickly. The successful candidate for this position will have experience loading shows in and out, have extensive knowledge of theatrical sound systems, and will be a self-starter.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Regularly mixing the show during live performances.
• Maintain a schedule of Sound department pink contract staff and ensure coverage for all shows, work calls, and rehearsals.
• Working with the rest of the Sound team to maintain and repair all show equipment to the highest standards.
• Working with the rest of the Sound team to manage the local union electrics crew at each show stop.
• Regular participation in work calls, and rehearsal as directed by stage management and head carpenter.
• Arrival on time and ready for work at the start of each call.
• Participate in Sound Check at the start of each new city.
• An eagerness to jump in where necessary to help troubleshooting.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS
• Detail-oriented, willing to complete both complex and menial repetitive tasks with exacting precision and a positive attitude.
• Ability to lead and instruct a crew of dozens of people with varying skill levels.
• Excellent computer skills (Mac & PC).
• Min 1 years’ experience working on an IATSE Full Pink Contract.
• Min 3 years’ experience with Sound Mixing.
• Min 3 years’ experience in the sound department of a touring or Broadway show.
• Knowledge of or experience in several road venues throughout the country.
• Working proficiency of Digico SD7 Consoles and Qlab.
